Tether Invests in LemFi to Deploy USDT for Faster Cross-Border Remittances in Emerging Markets
Tether invested in cross-border platform LemFi to integrate USDT as a settlement layer. This move aims to replace slow SWIFT processes, reducing costs and accelerating remittances to Africa and Asia.
Woofun AI reports that Tether has disclosed an investment in cross-border financial platform LemFi to accelerate stablecoin adoption within emerging market remittance corridors. The strategic partnership targets users in the UK, US, Canada, and Europe who remit funds to Africa and Asia, aiming to expand borderless financial infrastructure coverage.
Tether stated that the capital injection will enable LemFi to deploy USD₮ as a primary settlement layer, effectively replacing the traditional SWIFT multi-day process. This integration is designed to deliver near-instant transfers at significantly lower costs.
Concurrently, the parties plan to embed USD₮ deeper into LemFi’s product ecosystem to enhance service transparency and stability. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino emphasized that this initiative supports global financial inclusion by prioritizing speed, cost efficiency, and transparency in cross-border payments.
