Visa Cuts 2600 Jobs to Boost Stablecoin and Payment Investments
Visa reduces workforce by 7% to optimize operations, redirecting capital toward stablecoins, cross-border payments, and B2B solutions while leveraging AI for efficiency.
Woofun AI reports that payment processor Visa intends to eliminate approximately 2,600 positions, representing roughly 7% of its global employee base, with significant reductions in technology and product divisions. CEO Ryan McInerney explained that the restructuring seeks to enhance operational efficiency and shift resources toward high-growth areas, specifically consumer payments, commerce solutions, and value-added services including stablecoins and cross-border transactions. While the company acknowledged that artificial intelligence assists in streamlining repetitive tasks and speeding up development cycles, it clarified that AI adoption is not the primary driver behind this specific round of layoffs.
