Base Launches Verify Onchain to Counter Sybil Attacks in Airdrops

Woofun AI reports that Base Build has launched Verify Onchain on the Base Sepolia testnet to mitigate Sybil attacks in blockchain ecosystems. The system generates stable identity hashes for individual users, allowing smart contracts to enforce "one real user, one claim" rules without accessing private data like names or account details. Verification is conducted through existing accounts on platforms such as Coinbase, Instagram, X, and TikTok. The verified credential is then returned to the smart contract, which autonomously applies restrictions on claims, voting, or balances.

Base Build noted that traditional airdrop mechanisms are often exploited by bulk wallet operators, depriving genuine users of benefits. Currently, Verify has been utilized over 300,000 times and adopted by projects including Base App, Cody, Scratch, and Bracket. The tool aims to provide decentralized applications with fairer airdrop, token distribution, and governance mechanisms by restricting single-user claiming frequency and translating real-world signals into on-chain reputation.
