South Korea Stablecoin Net Outflows Hit $367M in June
June net outflows reached $367M, marking 18 consecutive months of capital flight. Q2 stablecoin outflows nearly matched overseas stock sales, highlighting shifting investment channels.
Woofun AI data shows that South Korea experienced a stablecoin net outflow of approximately $367 million (560.3 billion KRW) in June 2026. Transfers from the top five domestic exchanges to overseas platforms totaled 2.7625 trillion KRW, exceeding inflows of 2.2022 trillion KRW. This marks the 18th consecutive month where net outflows surpassed inflows, dating back to January 2025.
In the second quarter, total net stablecoin outflows reached 1.6872 trillion KRW, closely paralleling the 1.6185 trillion KRW in net overseas stock sales. Analysts attribute this capital movement to demand for cryptocurrency derivatives, Korean stock futures, and DeFi services unavailable domestically. A lawmaker warned that high-leverage overseas trading increases investor risk, urging stronger regulatory protections.
