NVIDIA Mass Produces CPO Switches, Trendforce Forecasts $39B Market by 2030
NVIDIA initiates mass production of Co-Packaged Optics switches for AI factories. Trendforce projects the CPO/NPO market to exceed $39 billion by 2030, driving pre-market gains for related optical concept stocks.
Woofun AI reports that NVIDIA Senior Vice President Gilad Shainer confirmed the mass production of Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) switches at a recent technology forum. These switches, developed with supply chain partners, are now shipping to key customers and being deployed internally, with widespread adoption in global AI factories expected this year. Shainer emphasized that vertical scale-up presents the largest future opportunity in optical communications, requiring bandwidth efficiency over ten times that of horizontal scale-out.
NVIDIA has integrated CPO into its Spectrum-X architecture to support the upcoming Vera Rubin AI platform, which offers computing speeds at least three times higher than the GB300. Trendforce estimates the CPO/NPO market will surpass $39 billion by 2030, with accelerated growth anticipated between 2028 and 2029 as optical interconnect scale-up is introduced. BIT market data indicates pre-market increases for CPO-related stocks, with AAOI up 2.63%, MRVL up 2.4%, and LITE up 1.92%.
