OpenAI Astra Public Release Probability Stands at 21% on Polymarket
Prediction markets assign a 21% chance to OpenAI's Astra model launching publicly before August 31, following initial internal disclosures and policy briefings.
Woofun AI data shows that the probability of OpenAI’s Astra model receiving a public release before August 31, 2026, currently sits at 21% on Polymarket. On August 1, OpenAI identified Astra as its "next major model," noting achievements in ten mathematical and theoretical computer science milestones, including high-dimensional geometry and lattice cryptography. The following day, it was reported that Sam Altman briefed Washington policymakers on the model's capabilities.
Market rules stipulate that Astra must be open to the general public, allowing for public testing or waitlists, to satisfy the condition. Internal usage, closed-door testing, or limited partner access do not qualify. As of now, OpenAI has not announced a specific release date, waitlist, or API access plan for Astra, though its previous GPT-5.6 model launched publicly on July 9 after phased testing.
