Cloudflare AI Agent Traffic Surges 1,700% Year-on-Year

Woofun AI reports that Lorenzo Valente, head of research at ARK Invest, highlighted Cloudflare's earnings call insights regarding the AI agent economy. Data indicates AI agent requests increased by 1,700% year-on-year, accounting for over 50% of total network traffic this quarter, marking the first time non-human traffic dominates internet usage. Valente noted that traditional advertising and subscription models are unsuitable for agents, suggesting Cloudflare may implement micro-fee settlements for legitimate requests. With current processing at 500 million requests per second, even a 1% commercial conversion yields 10 million TPS, far exceeding Visa's 20,000 TPS capacity. Valente concluded that Layer 1 throughput is critical for AI workflows, positioning stablecoins and crypto infrastructure as essential for future agent finance.
