Bank Leumi and Galaxy Digital to Launch Crypto Trading in Early 2027

Woofun AI reports that the first Israeli bank to offer digital asset trading services will be Bank Leumi, following a strategic partnership with Galaxy Digital. The collaboration enables customers of Leumi and its mobile banking arm, Pepper, to buy, hold, and sell Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and Solana (SOL) through a dedicated section of the Leumi Trade app, with the service scheduled for launch in early 2027.

Structurally, the operational framework relies on GalaxyOne Institutional for trading and related services, while Galaxy's custody infrastructure platform, formerly known as GK8, supports the underlying digital asset infrastructure. This technical integration extends to millions of customers across Leumi's retail and business operations, ensuring comprehensive coverage for both individual and corporate clients seeking exposure to these three major cryptocurrencies.

Per Woofun AI, Galaxy Digital reported an $85 million net loss in the second quarter, primarily attributed to declining digital asset prices. Despite this headline loss, the firm's digital assets business generated $66 million in adjusted gross profit, representing a 34% increase from the previous quarter, highlighting the resilience of its core revenue streams amidst market volatility.

Founded and led by Mike Novogratz, Galaxy Digital began trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker GLXY in May 2025. Its shares were trading at $21.38 on Friday morning, up about 2% on the day but down roughly 25% over the past year, reflecting broader market pressures. The early 2027 launch date signals a cautious but definitive entry into the retail crypto space for traditional banking institutions.
