Since the Lazarus attack in February 2025, Bybit has been working on recovery from every possible angle.

Today, we took another step forward.

Bybit has filed a civil lawsuit against the DPRK and the Lazarus Group, and secured a preliminary injunction freezing identified stolen assets while the case moves forward.

So far, we have recovered about $48.4M, with another $30.5M frozen across more than 28 exchanges and custodians.

This has taken a lot of cooperation across exchanges, blockchain analytics firms, custodians and law enforcement agencies .

The attack was against Bybit, but the problem is much bigger than Bybit. Cybercrime is a threat to the entire crypto industry. We will keep working with everyone who can help trace, freeze and recover stolen assets and we’ll keep using every lawful tool available.

The fight isn’t over. We keep pushing to build a new financial platform that is safer for everyone.
