This restriction follows his publication of a report detailing how Russia leverages cryptocurrency networks to circumvent Western sanctions. The investigation centered on the A7 network, which allegedly utilized Kyrgyzstan’s financial infrastructure to funnel military funds into Russia. The primary mechanism involved the ruble-stabilized token A7A5, jointly issued by Promsvyazbank and Moldovan fugitive banker Ilan Shor. By early 2026, transaction volume associated with this network had reached $100 billion.

Concurrently, the UK imposed new sanctions against the A7 network last month. Browder stated that the ban indicates his research touched upon sensitive political interests, yet he remains committed to his work. His father is Bill Browder, a prominent Kremlin critic and financier.
