Fortitude Launches 12MW Nebraska Mining Facility, Expanding Power to 60MW
Fortitude opens 12MW Nebraska site, boosting total power past 60MW. Projected Zcash mining costs drop from $70 to $40 via self-generated power ahead of HSCS merger.
Woofun AI reports that Fortitude has commenced operations at a 12-megawatt mining facility in Grand Island, Nebraska. This launch completes the construction of its first new data center and expands the company’s proprietary power generation capacity across seven sites to exceed 60 megawatts. The facility has passed construction and electrical testing, positioning it for commercial use.
Fortitude anticipates reducing direct cash costs for Zcash mining from approximately $70 to $40 per coin once hardware is deployed and conditions stabilize. This reduction stems from efficient next-generation hardware and self-generated power priced at roughly $0.045 per kilowatt hour. The site is situated between two solar plants near a substation with excess capacity. Founded in January 2025 after splitting from Foundry’s mining division, Fortitude focuses on proof-of-work cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin.
