Woofun AI reports that SB Payment Service, a core subsidiary of Japan's SoftBank Group, has reached an agreement with a Blackstone Group fund to acquire shares in the parent company of SP.LINKS (formerly Sony Payment Services). Upon completion, SP.LINKS will become a subsidiary of SBPS.
The parties stated they will combine SP.LINKS' strengths in payment infrastructure with SBPS' advantages in payment services to enhance competitiveness. This move addresses market changes driven by cashless payment proliferation, e-commerce development, and digital technologies such as AI.
