South Korea Stablecoin Net Outflows Hit $388M in June, Matching Foreign Stock Buys
June saw $388M net stablecoin outflow from South Korea, equaling 77.6% of foreign stock purchases. Q2 total reached $1.17B, driven by offshore derivatives and RWA demand.
Woofun AI data shows that South Korea’s top five exchanges transferred $1.914 billion in stablecoins overseas in June, while receiving $1.526 billion, resulting in a net outflow of $388 million. This figure represents 77.6% of the month’s net foreign stock purchases, a significant increase from the 20% ratio observed early last year.
The second quarter recorded a cumulative net outflow of $1.169 billion, coinciding with $1.121 billion in net foreign stock sales. Analysis indicates these funds target offshore derivatives for major Korean equities like Samsung Electronics, alongside Real-World Assets and DeFi services.
